we're having a guest for thanksgiving and i'm in a search for recipes, recipes and more recipes.

^^ i have a love affair with pretty doors. i want one in red some day. ^^

we're having a friend from new york join us for thanksgiving. his family all live abroad and we've decided to spend it just us here in virginia, so we're stoked to have him join us. i just got forwarded his e-ticket, which means it's time to get my game face on and be bit more serious about going through and picking out recipes. mmmhmmm. can't wait for this place to smell of herbs.

do you have a favorite thanksgiving dish? let us know. would love to check it out!

  1. Easy to make, festive enough and one of my favorites http://sweetsensation-monchi.blogspot.com/2011/10/cokoladna-torta-bez-brasna-sa-chantilly.html (English version is at the bottom). I m not familiar with what should be typical Thanksgiving food, but I guess with chocolate it s hard to be wrong:) Enjoy baking, welcoming and sharing together:) xx

  2. Finally found your blog! It wasn't linked to your profile before.

We already celebrated Thanksgiving last month in Canada. But my go to dish for the past 3 years has been butternut squash soup. Yum!

  5. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/blue-ribbon-overnight-rolls/
These are identical to our family's traditional rolls. According to my children, they taste better when Nanny makes them even though I use the same recipe because hers have "Nanny's love" in them.

  6. One of my to-go thanksgiving recipe is spaghetti squash. You don't even need a recipe ... just cut in half, season with salt & pepper & garlic, roast until it smells wonderful then take a fork and scrape the inners out. As you scrape, it'll come out stringy like spaghetti. I usually then do a quick saute and viola, a quick thanksgiving side. (btw, I just read your past few post, and my heart goes out to you as you share about this difficult time. I can't imagine what you must be going through, but I hope the holidays, family time and yummy food can bring you some comfort)

  7. sorry to be not so much of a help, but just wanted to poke in, say hi, and that i love the blog! we always have my sisters' homemade mashed potatoes. all i know it, she boils the potatoes and then mashes them up -- adds faaaar too much butter, salt, and pepper. they are the heavenliest thing on the table. :)

  8. I love pretty doors too! One day I want to live in a super pretty colored house with a contrasting door :) I don't stray too out of the box for my Thanksgiving fare. My fave is homemade green bean casserole, with the mushroom rue made from scratch!

  9. My Thanksgiving trick is mixing blueberries into the cranberry sauce. I've always made it from scratch, but the blueberries do a great job of tempering the tartness but don't make it too sweet.

  10. I don't have any recipes for ya, because I would always go to my aunts or grandmas house.... which I will def be missing this year! I hate living so far away this time of year! Good luck though! I'm sure whatever you make will be great!

  11. I'm going to have to take a look at what everyone suggested because I'm usually not the one cooking! This year it's all changed though, and I'll be cooking just for the bf and I...we'll see how this goes!

  13. I'm all about the finger foods - good cheese, fresh fruit... And good wine! Other than that I'm at a loss, trying to figure this one out myself. :)
