in a couple of weeks we'll be celebrating piri's 15th birthday. we've always had a little party for him {last year's looked like this}, but this year it just seems a bit more special. piri is older and wiser and in the past couple of years he's come back from battling all sorts of illnesses and still manages to rock that wiggle butt of his. i know it can seem silly to have a party for your pet, but with piri and his human tendencies that he display sometimes, we like to spend time to celebrate with him with a special treat, some presents and decor.
i was searching online for his present when i thought to put together a little list on how to celebrate a doggy birthday. just a fun guide for pet lovers out there. piri already has one of those dapper bow ties that he'll wear and we'll be making his cake out of those yummy mutt meatballs with old mother hubbard peanut butter treats as "cake decorations". i also love those cute party hats, but i may make one for piri, me and yangkyu this year. it should be a fun diy.
do you celebrate your pet's birthday?

ReplyDeletewhat a super cute post! i think it's wonderful to celebrate pet birthdays, they are part of the family! i know i most definitely would if i had a pet. those happy birthday candles are the cherry on top :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you make Piri birthday cakes - so cute! These look like the perfect ingredients for a doggy party :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. Mummy usually makes me pupcakes for my birthday :-)
ReplyDeleteAh how wonderful and what a great idea! 15 oh my! My kitty Chloe is 6.6 months now haha. Poor thing took her to the vet for her week check up after being spayed (she had went in to heat twice already) and he said another week with stitches so another week with the cone of shame. She will need a party when that thing finally comes off!

ReplyDeleteThank you for including our Mutt Meatballs in Piri's celebration! We love you guys!!
ReplyDeleteso cute! can't wait to see you guys in your party hats :) we don't go all out, but we give Louie special treats for her adoption anniversary day!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great idea to celebrate, the party is not only for the birthday boy but for his family! :) We celebrated with a party only once with a Hello Kitty theme (I know, not the most orginal out there) while the rest it has been more laid back staying us at home all day giving her favorite treats. Excited for Piri's 15! (and for you three wearing those cute hats)
ReplyDeleteHow cute are those party hats and bow ties! Hope Piri will be all better in time for his big day!

oh so cute! I've never been to a doggy bday party but it's sounds like the best time :) x
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I celebrate my dog's birthday by slipping him some meat instead of canned foods and then for my puffer fish, I'll clean his tank and feed him some shrimp. (:
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a pet to celebrate with :((
ReplyDeletego my goodness, this is so sweet! I am so sad about my allergies because we would love a little puppy at our home! How bad would it be if I used this guide for my soon-to-be 5 year old though?! so cute!
ReplyDeleteAww, sounds like Piri is going to have a pretty sweet big 1-5. I usually just bake Beamer a cake and buy him some treats and toys. Nothing too big :)
ReplyDeleteHa! So cute. My dogs love #9 treats :D
ReplyDeletethis is so cute and his birthday last yeah -oh my gosh, can't wait to see the photos
ReplyDeleteit's great to celebrate! 15 years, wow!!! we sadly don't celebrate our pets' birthdays anymore :(. we should since they are part of the family! it'd be a special treat for them.

jane, i think this is so cute! it is so not silly to have a bday party for your pet! they are family! i use to do the same, but there wasn't all this cool stuff or products that there is now. i was just looking at your other post. the bones around the cake are too cute. i know the meatball one this year will be too. happy birthday piri! love the suggestions.

Haha that's cute. My dog would probably be confused and just go straight for the prize - the food/treat.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I definitely celebrate the puppies birthday. Nothing too extravagant, but he gets a little present and treat! And an instax camera is definitely necessary :)

So cute!! I baked Frankie a cake when she turned one and last year I gave her a huge lamb bone, which she loved! I can't believe Piri is 15, he looks so young. Clearly you have done a great job looking after him.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea, and the fact that you have a bow tie for Piri. Such a dapper puppy.
