it's really spring. there is a cool crisp breeze but the sun is strong and there are all sorts of bloom everywhere we turn. it's pink, yellow, white and amazing. we're finding ourselves venturing outdoors more now. it's made us realize how cooped up we were during the brutal winter months. this is definitely a nice change of pace and i'm looking forward to more afternoons like the one we had over the weekend.
although we spent a lot of time outdoors, we also spent a lot of time sleeping. yangkyu's been trying to catch up on his sleep these past few weekends - ever since he switched his job a few months back, his commute has been kicking his butt. it's significantly longer and both our days start out much earlier. he's starting to condition himself to go to bed earlier so that he also gets an 8-hour sleep. we're also adding more fruits to our daily diet and will start on some sort of juicing regime. i've been staking out some recipes out on pinterest that i'm eager to try out.
how were your weekends?
here are some pictures from our saturday & sunday.
// saw a few of these in bloom right where we live and so i just had to ask yangkyu to pull up so that i can take a few snaps. i am always in awe of how the dmv {dc, maryland, virginia} area turns pink and white at the start of spring. it's really one of the prettiest sights i've seen. //
// picked these guys up at home depot and gave them a new home on our windowsill. they are the cutest little things. //
// found a gem of a place called burke lake park. we've been living in northern virginia for two years but we're still figuring out our neck of the woods. it'll take some time to get to know our town like the back of our hand but hopefully we'll get there. //

ReplyDeletethey make me pretty happy, too!
DeleteIt does look very spring-like over there:) And sleeping on weekends always is a great idea IMO.
ReplyDeletevery excited about everything being so spring-like!
DeleteI love Spring! We had some rain yesterday, but overall it was a nice weekend. It takes awhile to adjust to a new work schedule. He's definitely making the proper adjustments. Have a great week Jane!
ReplyDeleteit rained for us on monday and it totally took me out of my element. rain does that to me. it must be my weakness! :) hope you have a great week as well, kim.
Deleteoh it sounds like you had a lovely weekend!!

it is! i've been running on less than 7 hours previously but i just couldn't anymore so i forced myself to sleep early. it's been wonderful. hope those cherry blossoms have their peak soon over in ny!
DeleteOh my, the cherry blossoms are gorgeous, would love to see some with my own eyes. And how cute those c little cactuses are. I always think they are cute but never buy them.
ReplyDeleteWinter still lingers around down here. It was cloudy and rainy this weekend. I am so desperate to see sunshine and Spring.
ah sending some sunshine and spring your way nelah!
DeleteUgh, I can totally relate to your husband! I hate commuting & being stuck in traffic! & I know I should be getting more continuous sleep but I just end up taking a few naps throughout the day/night to make up for lost sleep. By the way, those cherry blossoms are beautiful!! & the group of succulents are so cute :) They are low-maintenance so I have two on my windowsill at work too!
ReplyDeletenaps have been our nemesis because it throws our sleeping pattern off! but they sure are tempting. :) and great company to have on your workspace windowsill. ;)
Deletecatching up on sleep is a must...i feel like we're always trying to do that too. i have been able to since i'm working from home now but kevin still hasn't! he always wants to stay up late since it takes him awhile to get home from work too. commutes suck! :(. i'm glad spring has finally come your way after a tough winter!
ReplyDeletecommutes definitely stink. i used to have a telecommuting job and it was wonderful - i was definitely more productive and energized each day. i didn't have to worry about a super long commute. it was just really really great.
DeleteAhh, the cherry blossoms are so pretty! I had a good weekend- celebrated a friend's birthday on Saturday and enjoyed the nice weather on Sunday.
ReplyDeletesounds like such a wonderful weekend. hope your week is a good one!

DeleteSUCH beautiful blossoms! And I'm jealous that you get to have spring, it's the best time of year when the winter is leaving and you appreciate the great outdoors more than during any other season.

ReplyDeleteI'm lucky now my internship is a bicycle ride away, but when I go back to college... if I have to get their 8:30, I have to wake up at 6AM to be in the train by 7AM.
that's basically our schedule now. waking up at 6 am. yangkyu needs to be at his bus stop by 7 am and for me, i take care of his breakfast and lunch by then. it's too early! :)
DeleteSounds like he's starting to get used to a new routine. Is it completely different times?
ReplyDeleteBuckets & Spades
it's not so different, but we have to start earlier in the day and he comes home later. we had a routine in the past and so we're still trying to adjust to our new one :)
DeleteCan't get over how beautiful the cherry blossoms are. Yay for Spring for you! I'm loving the cooler autumn weather at the moment

DeleteWhat a lovely weekend! I love cherry blossom trees; it reminds me of Japan. Love lakes too, but they don't remind me of anything. I can't believe spring is here! Hopefully I can share some of my weekend pics too. -Jess L

DeleteGorgeous pictures Jane! And what a great find is the Lake Burke, hope we'll be able to see more pictures of the three of you there soon. One of the thing I am looking forward more is to have time outdoors (and yes, also lighter clothes and dresses!, I'm ready for them :P) and yes also to sleep more (work is kinda killing lately :S) and drink more fresh fruits juice. I wish we had windowsills at home just to have that cute succulents collection, very nice!
