i haven't read in a couple of months. i blame netflix. more specifically, i blame law & order. but for the month of june i got back into the swing of things with these books:
the brief wondrous life of oscar wao by junot diaz - i had a lot of folks who told me this was one of their favorite reads. i appreciated the references to new jersey {i grew up there}, sci fi, fantasy and all but i just could not get into it although the ending did leave me with my mouth gaping wide open
i remember nothing by nora ephron - easy fun read. it just felt like i was catching up on a bunch of blog post of a favorite blogger.
remember me? by sophie kinsella - i read all of her shopaholic series several years ago and loved them, and i love chic lit. i actually had this book for a while now and i have tried to finish it about twice before giving up. i don't know if it's the story or if i'm older but it wasn't as fun as her other books. darn.

DeleteI've got so many books on the shelf at home. I did really good last year, but I've been busy this year. As soon as I get back home I'm going to read. I have Amy Tan's new book. Sophie Kinsella usually has good stories. Too bad about this one.
ReplyDeletei know! i had tons of books but just last year i began to get rid of them. i had attachment issues!! but now i only have books that i really really love. :)
DeleteI'm reading a bio about a Vietnamese who fled his home when he was very young.
ReplyDeletehow interesting. biographies are always an interesting read.
DeleteMummy is struggling to read atm, she used to read alot when she was commuting to work, but now she only has a 10 min commute she's lost the motivation to read.
ReplyDeleteah. i know what that is like!
DeleteIt's been ages since the last time I read and I blame Apple for this..Damn you iPhone!

DeleteNora Ephron is always so good for a laugh. I'm on a huge reading kick this summer. Are you on Goodreads?
ReplyDeletei used to have goodreads years ago but not really active on it at all! i remember spending summers in the library.. i don't know when i stopped reading so much. hopefully i'll be back to the way i was with having my nose in the book all the time. :)
DeleteI agree re. Sophie Kinsella. Her first Shopaholic book was the best.
ReplyDeleteOmg Law and Order hahah seriously FREE ME FROM YOUR SPELL, OLIVIA BENSON! I Remember Nothing needs to go on my list :]
ReplyDeleteThree books in a month is a really good goal, Jane. I am a slower reader :) because right now I almost only read during commute times, but I am wishing to have more time during holidays. A few weeks ago I started reading Under wildwood the sequel of Wildwood, a sweet illustrated fantasy book. I am having a really nice time going back again to that adventurous world :)
