aside from the usual errands i had one goal for the weekend - to go thrifting and find us a pair of dining chairs to add to our collection. well we found one chair and a step stool, which was a delightful surprise. i was originally planning on picking one up at ikea. but i am stoked. the chair and foot stool are charming. we also picked up some sanding paper and some time this week i'll be sanding them down and to get them ready for a fresh coat of paint. well.. i'm actually toying with the idea of giving a different stain finish for the step stool. a dark brown. we'll see.
i feel like i am done with finding homes for all of our things. now it's a matter coming up with decorations and details to give each room more character. it's going to take a while to really see what i need but i would love to find a pretty antique wall mirror for our bedroom and an ethnic fabric print for our kitchen wall. i have always loved hmong fabric prints {you can see some of their textile examples here}. they are so pretty. and there are ones that also tell a certain story. i think those are so fascinating. i guess i better keep my eyes peeled from now on.
what did you do over the weekend?
// these are our thrift finds. eeck. so excited about them. //

DeleteI reckon thrifting for furniture would be so fun! I've never tried it but I think I'd like it more than thrifting for clothes.
ReplyDeletei have a hard time thrifting clothes especially when there are racks and racks of it. well, i guess i am like that at malls as well ;) but i love thrifting furniture or something that i can update. that's the fun of it for me!
DeleteGreat finds! We ran a bunch of errands this weekend as well. It always seems like weekends go by in the blink of an eye!
ReplyDeletethanks! and most weekends do go by so quickly! i think it's because i got done with a lot of my errands very early in the morning which freed up a lot of time to just lounge around! that made time go by in turtle speed :)

DeleteOh man, oh man, oh man! I totally adore your place! And I definitely approve of that snazzy looking Crosley! Also, I might have just missed it completely but your photogaphs look different, and very, very pretty too! (they always looked pretty, but it's like the colours are deeper in this bunch?)
ReplyDeletethanks! i think they look a little different too. :) i have been using a beautiful mess folk collection photoshop actions for a while and have played around with them. perhaps that's why? :)
DeleteGirl, your place is really coming together :) I love that you now have everything you need and now it's time to give your spaces personality. That's so dope that you can dedicate time to these projects. I always love looking at your snapshots, they say so much sometimes. I especially love that last shot. DeleteYour home looks like one of the cutest/happiest homes ever with the rainbow flags and chalkboard wall. I love it so much!
ReplyDeleteThe author of that book, Maria Semple, donated some money to my school's English department last year. I think her niece goes to my school and that's why she chose my school specifically.
thanks so much! and that's pretty cool about the author!
DeleteLove your thrift finds lady! I went thrifting as well and scored some goodies!! And I am smitten for those textile examples! Just fantastic as are all of your gorgeous photos! Lovely week to you friend! Nicole xo

DeleteGreat thrift finds Jane!! Which color are you thinking for them? I love Piri personalized banner, I need to copy this for Juno's meal spot! ;)
ReplyDeletethanks! the chair i'll probably paint the same yellow as my other dining chairs. and the foot stool.. i was thinking white but i'm really leaning on doing a dark stain on them :) and that would be so sweet for juno to get a personalized spot :)

LOVE the Piri banner for his food and water!! SO cute! I'm going to do that for my pets when I get my own place :] The picture of Piri in that little hood is too adorable for words, and I LOVE the one of him walking with Yangkyu...too presh. I just love seeing your home come together as you add pieces and show us your decorating, it is SO motivating for me to hurry up and get out of my parents' house haha.

Wonderful! I must tell you that I fear sending Hiro out to find chairs. He LOVES chairs and has designs to turn our living room into a chair gallery :(
