I'm more of a coffee drinker, mostly to keep me awake in the morning as I plow through the news and also things I need to get done in front of the computer. Lately though I've been filling myself up with lots of tea as well to soothe my mind and soul because right now my heart is going up and down like those scary roller coaster rides and I could use a bit of help to calm my nerves down.
Roasted corn tea, or oksoosoo cha {oksoosoo is corn in korean and cha means tea}, is a childhood favorite. I don't think there is one Korean person out there who didn't grow up drinking this. We always stock up when the colder months come around. It's definitely comforting and soothing. {You can also read about it from WorshipBlues. Yasumi is one of my favorite bloggers out there!}
Mint tea has been also a favorite and I've been drinking it mug after mug. Our good friends have a wonderful garden and they grow mint, too. We've had some at fresh mint tea at their home and they recently send some over to us to help me get through some rough times as I cope with Piri's health issues. I have never really been a fan of mint but my goodness! I am hooked on mint tea. It has definitely calmed me down when I needed it the most.
What are some teas that help you get through tough times?

I drink chamomile tea when I'm having trouble sleeping and peppermint tea whenever I'm coming down with a cold. I'm glad to see that you're finding some way to cope and continue to send you and your family positive vibes Jane. Beautiful images as usual. What does roasted corn tea taste like? It sounds so interesting
ReplyDeletepeppermint tea seems to be popular around here. i'll have to give it a try. i always shied away from minty flavors but they are surprising good! and roasted corn... hmm... i'm not really sure how to describe it really. it doesn't taste like corn though! x(
DeleteI love mint teas. It's one of my favorites along with English Breakfast Tea.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Piri, keeping you guys in my thoughts!
thanks jane!
DeleteI do a lot of green tea but you have me thinking of mint tea now as I grow that in my garden too and can only imagine how awesome it must be for tea! Thanks for the idea! Happy Wednesday! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteyes having it fresh is so so good!
DeleteI hope the tea is helping to soothe you and that Piri is hanging in there. I start my day with hot lemon water and then I drink tea through the day, usually 2 cups of Kusmi Detox and a cup of matcha. I also drink Boricha like water.
ReplyDeletedefinitely so soothing. i don't know how to explain it but teas have that great effect :) oh and yes! boricha is so good too!
DeleteHmm, I have been looking for new teas to try. Rooibos is my favorite right now--actually, it's the only one I drink! But mint sounds delicious. :)
ReplyDeleterooibos? i'll have to look it up!
DeleteI love Yogi Tea's honey lavender stress relief tea:) It's 100% natural and made with organic lavender. I drink it whenever I'm starting to feel tense and it actually eases my mind, even if it's just for a moment.
ReplyDeleteoh sounds heavenly!
DeleteI'm a big fan of mint tea. Soo soothing for the tummy, and tastes good. My fave tea right now though is genmaicha.
ReplyDeletegenmaicha! i have never heard of it! i'll have to look it up!
DeleteI've never tried roasted corn tea. Is it anything like genmaicha? That I've had a lot of. My favourite herbal infusion would have to be licorice root. So sweet and unexpected.
ReplyDeletei am not familiar with genmaicha. i'll have to look it up and see! and yes! i totally saw your october favorites video today and you mentioning the amazingness of licorice root! i'm intrigued!
DeleteI think tea is definitely better than coffee when you're stressed. I've never tried either of these teas though - I should probably step out of my black tea box!
ReplyDeleteyes i totally agree. there is something heavy about coffee that doesn't help with stress. tea feels more cleaner like the feeling of cleansing the body of stress and other bad things :)
DeleteThis may sound silly but I never thought to actually add real mint leaves - will make sure I add them to a tea brew next time I get a bunch from the shops :) Hope you're doing okay, it's nice that you're finding ways to cope even if they are simple like soothing tea :)
ReplyDeleteusing fresh mint leaves is so good! :) i hope you'll get to try it!
DeleteI've always been a fan of drinking coffee since the ritual makes me feel like I started the day "regularly." But, there are days when tea just makes it better. For me, I love green teas. My mother drank them religiously so I associate it with my childhood and as a regular tea to drink. But, as an adult, I love chai for the spice. It's the extra kick that makes me feel like it's one step below drinking coffee. =)

i know what you mean about starting the day with coffee! i feel the same way!
DeleteI'm just starting to get into teas! So I have a lot to learn. Right now just chamomile, green, and black tea. HaHaHa

i like black tea as well :)
DeleteI drink cold tea when I'm feeling a bit run down and peppermint tea when I'm feeling a bit grouchy. It's getting cold so it's that time of year again (tea time). I might need to find some others to expand my repetoire
ReplyDeletei have to find others as well. sounds like there is a wealth of lovely tea flavors out there.
DeleteI tried for the first time mint tea like the one in your picture at Amsterdam this year :) I normally infused it with other herbs like lemon grass and take them off once infused. My favorite teas are chai, rooibos and matcha latte :) but I would drink almost any tea, hahahaha
