I love when dogs serenade humans when they come home. This picture was from Sunday morning after Yangkyu came home from hiking with a friend. Piri, Shone and Napoleon were so happy to see him and I think it kinda made Yangkyu feel pretty special.
My mom grew up with dogs. Her family owned many of them, but at the same time she also witnessed dogs being used as fight dogs. She used to tell me how much she would cry seeing their wounds. But her love for them never stopped and so at different points in my life, we always had dogs. I think her love for these furry guys rubbed off on me. I love being around them and taking care of them, even if it means my legs cramping up because they decided to fall asleep on them. {Dog lovers, you know what I'm talking about, right?}
Yangkyu on the other hand loved dogs but never grew up with them because his family, except his brother, weren't really into them. I think all our Dogvacay guests are making up for all the years lost, don't you think?
Today, Napoleon and Shone both leave us to go back to their humans. I'm sure gonna miss them. I wish they can stay a bit longer, but I know they are longing to be in back in their homes with the humans they love most. I'm glad they were happy guests here at Piri's Place. We have a few days free until a couple more dogs join us starting this weekend.
Piri has been such a great host. I'm going to treat him to something extra special these next couple of days. Maybe some extra apples and neck scratches.
How was your weekend? I hope it was with those who made you feel pretty special, too.

ReplyDeleteit was! after they left it felt so empty but i did enjoy my quite time with piri. :)
Deleteaw these photos make my heart melt. I didn't grow up with dogs, but I always wanted one! Unfortunately, my mother's health didn't really make a good environment for any furry pet. How lovely that you two can share your home with some adorable pups!

DeleteAw, I love seeing all the dogs you host get along with Piri! They're like best friends! Does he get really sad when it's time to say goodbye? :( Also, I hate everything about dog fighting. It's so cruel and awful, I can't believe people actually do that! It breaks my heart, and it's so sad your mom had to witness that. I'm glad both you and her are such dog/animal lovers though!! <3
ReplyDeleteha he doesn't actually get sad. :) and yes.. dog fighting or any kind of animal fighting is just so cruel. i don't know how people can do it. i hope it gets cracked down all over the world.
DeleteA doggy seranade is bound to make anyone feel special.. I grew up with dogs so have always loved them. Stu on the other hand was never a dog person but having Frankie has definitely changed that.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy and safe Holiday season Jane!

DeleteOk....you so need to photograph dogs for people! You really capture their spirit so wonderfully JANE!!! Beautiful shots friend! Wishing you a wonderful week and I love that first shot up there! And that your mom was such an animal lover! I really think our world is better because there are people like you and your family that looks out for our furry blessings! Nicole xoxo

ReplyDeleteawww!
DeleteSo adorable. Love dogs, though I never had one at home as my Mother is allergic. But, my Nana had one and aunts, so I always loved going to their house to see the dogs. These cuties are precious, am happy they enjoyed each other's company :) xx
ReplyDeleteaww they really did love being around each other :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures Jane! I'm sure Napoleon and Shone humans are delighted to have those sweet moments of their little furry ones.
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteI don't know if I am allowed to say it here (:-)), but I m afraid of 99% of the dogs. Not to be missunderstood, I love dogs and perfectly understand why people love them so much, but my physical reactions are just stronger. Still, the dogs here and everything about them looks cotton candy soft and sweet. Even to me (-:
ReplyDeleteaww you can totally say! :) but i'm so glad that they look candy soft and sweet in these pictures :) thank you~~
DeleteAhh, all three of them are so darn cute (I especially love that photo of Napoleon's ears being pulled back! hehe).
ReplyDeletehehe i like that one too! it looks like he's flying!
DeleteI grew up with dogs too, I think it really does rub off on you - well dogs rubs off on you quite easily :) I hope someday soon we can add a dog to our pet family!
ReplyDeleteaww hope so too!
DeleteI hate hearing about dog fighting too! I can't believe people can do that to such sweet animals.... another thing I don't really like.... when people only have "outside" dogs. I just feel so bad for them... esp when its really hot/cold/rainy.... they want to feel the love and coziness of a home too! Just my own personal thought......
ReplyDeleteBut anyways, I love how you capture all these beautiful pics of them! I seriously need lessons because Bosco hates the camera and it's so hard to get a decent picture! Even bribing with treats doesn't always work! haha
yes outside dogs is so sad too. i heard of a case out in colorado recently and people on social media gathered to put pressure on the owner to bring the dog inside. it was during a snowstorm and the dog was curled up next to the backyard door just shivering. poor thing... i don't understand people who own dogs if they are going to neglect it.. sigh.
Deletei think it's so fantastic what you two are doing. the dogs that stay look so at home and relaxed. it's wonderful. keep it up jane. oh, i hate any type of animal fighting. i don't know how people can do that to animals. it's disgusting. i had two dogs and loved both dearly.

i hear you kim. i hope it gets cracked down all over the world. it's just so so scary and disgusting at what humans can do to animals...
DeleteDearest Jane; What a great 'Doggie serenades' post with such sweet pictures of your guests♡♡♡ I'm proud of Piri, too♪
ReplyDeleteSending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Oh, such precious photos. All the movement in the first photo makes me smile, and the serenity in the stills is so beautiful <3 I love the way you capture moments, Jane! I never get tired of marveling at it. (Also, did I ever tell you that I worked at a dog daycare for a year? My arms got so strong from wrangling dog leashes! Haha. I miss those days.)
ReplyDeleteYou've made me want to open a doggie day care just so I can be around cute happy mutts all day. I guess I'll have to make due with my bratty cats for now...
ReplyDeleteThey're just SO CUTE! My dad grew up with a wiener dog hehe. I think they're too adorable.
