1. we love grass, green and more grass
if you recall back to this post, and this, one of our dreams is to get a big back yard for piri. while we're still working toward that dream, we still get to enjoy plenty of grass here in fairfax, va. it's practically everywhere. and this little guy loves grass. he loves to run, trot and walk along, but really, smelling is his thing. i think if he could, he would spend the entire day just sniffing around. that and eating mangoes.
2. virginia is for dog lovers
have you ever heard of the phrase "virginia is for lovers?" well that should actually read virginia is for dog lovers. and we have the best doggie neighbors here. whether it's just around the neighborhood, at local dog parks or small businesses that cater to dogs, we come across folks who have so much love for their four legged friends. any city that is this dog friendly is an a+ in our books!
3. the beach is just a road trip away
virginia beach is probably one of the best places to take your dog. we took piri back in april and we had a ton of fun. before memorial day and after labor day weekend, dogs are welcome on the public beaches and on the boardwalk. even during prime vacation season, dogs can still hang out at the north end. {you can see more detailed information here here} we are itching to go back again. had such a wonderful time there.
right after we got married, we took a 3-day relaxing get away vacation to washington dc {we were living in new york at the time}. yangkyu and i always had a fascination for the district and so when we had the opportunity to move to the area for work, we didn't hesitate for a second. and we were even more excited to experience all that is dc with piri. while dogs are not allowed in some monuments, they can still enjoy time on at some of the most prominent spots, like here at the tidal basin. we took piri just when the cherry blossoms were blooming and it was the prettiest site ever.
5. autumns are beautiful here
i've been dreading the coming of fall, but i must say that we do have the prettiest autumns here. and autumn means apple picking, carving pumpkins {we're going to make sure we have one that represents piri this year} and halloween. ok, i have to admit. piri's sweater and the colors of the leaves in this picture is kinda getting me ready for fall.
well that's it! piri thanks you for taking a look at his totally fun list. and that was loads of fun to do for us. {smile smile smile}
we heard of dogvacay.com right around this time last year and thought it was a wonderful idea. and it's so great to see a list of wonderful dog sitters in our area as well. you can do a quick search for your city right here!

ReplyDeleteWhat would our lives be like without our canine children? San Diego is pretty dog friendly too. Lots of places to take your dogs, several unleashed areas, and places where you can eat outside with your dogs. So now I know that if we had to get stationed in VA, that we won't have a problem taking our dogs everywhere with us. -Jess L
