i can't believe it's already a new week. we're super sad that yangkyu's vacation is over. the days literally went swoosh! but we're happy that we got to tuck away a few more memories.
last week, we packed up our little hatchback and took 3-hour road trip to philadelphia. the theme last week was staycation and while philadelphia isn't exactly in our neck of the woods, we still counted it as a staycation.
we have both been to philadelphia on numerous occasions but yangkyu never really got to tour. i did as a little girl scout. i have faint memories of taking the bus with my troop and seeing the liberty bell, the rocky steps and sleeping over night in a museum {maybe it was the franklin institute?} and playing inside a replica of a human heart. crazy.
this time we spent time in philadelphia together with piri and it was loads of fun {and blazing hot!}
^^^ always awed by pieces of history. this is the independence hall. it's the location where the declaration of independence and the constitution were debated and signed. ^^^
^^^ i loved these lanterns that guided our way to the philadelphia museum of art. ^^^
^^^ have you seen the movie rocky balboa? well, there is a scene where rocky is training and he climbs the steps up to the philadelphia museum of art, better known as "rocky steps", with his adopted dog, punchy -- a senior dog who he thought still had some spunk in him. after they climb up the steps, rocky lifts him up and it's like the sweetest thing ever. there is a clip of it here {at the 2:08 mark} or you can see a picture if you prefer.^^^
^^^ and naturally, yangkyu and piri recreated the scene. ^^^
^^^ even down to the last scene. these two make me smile. sorry there piri. your legs ended up looking a little odd. ^^^
^^^ love park. the fountain water was literally green and we couldn't figure out why. yangkyu said maybe to match the red of the "love" sign? hmmm.^^^
^^^ it was so cool by the water. this dude got to cool down and made a lot of heads turn. with his shoes, of course. ^^^
^^^ our last stop before heading home. we tried geno's {we kinda regret not trying out pat's which was literally across the street}. ^^^
^^^ bam. the most delicious cheesesteak sandwich. ever. ^^^
we have been meaning to take a day trip to philadelphia and glad we finally did. it was so much fun. life is good. really good.
we hope you enjoyed your weekend! hope you have a fantastic week ahead!

So glad to see your dog has shoes on since you said it was super hot. So many people don't take that in to consideration :)
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pics, Jane:) Glad to hear you guys enjoyed the staycation. I love the Rocky-inspired pics...who doesn't love that "up the stairs" scene, right? And seriously, that cheesesteak sandwich....drool.
ReplyDeleteBTW, thanks for always leaving such sweet comments on my posts. You really are too sweet. XOXO
What a beautiful and fun mini-vacation you guys had!!! I love all your photos, I always smile at each one! Every photo with Piri looks like he's really posing with you two, like he's a human but in a dog's body (especially the photo in the car). lol! I love it! I met a dog that looked kind of like Piri this weekend - soooo cute and friendly (and so so soft)!
