my mama once said that when she was pregnant with me she had a crazy craving for corn. it surprised her because she hated corn, even down to the sound it made when she bit into it. but when i was in her belly that was all she wanted. so i guess it didn't surprise her that she ended up giving birth to a little corn monster {moi}.
i picked these up from trader joe's last weekend and boiled them up last night to eat. i ate about... 2.5 of the 3. in one sitting. and it was so good. most likely i'll be getting some more over the weekend. and i've been seeing some amazing corn recipes on pinterest that i hope i'll get to try during a summer bbq in the coming months.
what do you have planned for the weekend? in honor of my favorite grain, hope you'll have a corny weekend {bahahaha}.
// if this bulldog can teach us anything it's to never give up.

That's so precious!! I love corn, but not creamed corn, gross. I craved meat all the time with my first pregnancy & my daughter is a big meat eater, haha. With my second daughter, I craved fruit and sweet things & the girl can't get enough fruit and sweet things in her belly fast enough, hahaha!! Funny how those things work!! I loved Reading Rainbow as a child, I can still sing the theme tune and I was so excited to see that it got money to run the app, so marvellous, his reaction was priceless, loved it so much!! I hope you have a great weekend doll xx
ReplyDeleteGosh, why did I have to click on your links?! Now I want that camera and those camping shirts! They are a bit more on the expensive side for me, but I can tell they are of a good quality and they are environment friendly, and the company looks like a small, not well-known business which makes them even more appealing. Anyhow, I hope you have a good weekend, too, Jane. Thanks for telling me about the Instax, but now I'm wondering if I should wait for the Lomo instant camera! -Jess L
ReplyDeleteI love a good sweet corn. My son looooooooooooves it. And I love giving to our baby because she can munch on it while I eat dinner in peace ;). Cute bulldog video!
ReplyDeleteyum! I think we'll grill some corn this weekend ;)
ReplyDeleteI love corn, haven't had it in ages! I always have it with loads of butter, haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm like your mom...not the biggest fan of corn, but I would eat it...if I have to:P
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend, Jane.
when i was pregnant with my son, now 17, i couldn't stand the smell of pepper and couldn't swallow anything "tainted" with pepper. before that i wasn't crazy about pepper but i peppered my food regularly. all my pregnant induced food cravings disappeared after giving birth but my dislike of pepper remained.
ReplyDeleteI was so eager to eat sweet corn on the cob this past weekend, that I bit into it before it had time to cool down. I've burned the roof of my mouth, but it was so worth it! Love corn.
ReplyDeleteOk now you have me craving corn! I'm going to have to pick some up for dinner this weekend :-) And that bulldog video is hilarious - I would like an indoor pool too!
ReplyDeleteI can take or leave corn but my husband loves it. I buy corn on the cob for him and cook it in the microwave. You just wrap the corn in a a damp paper towel and cook for 3 minutes on high turning once. So much easier than boiling.

We're hoping to snag some early summer corn at the farmer's market this weekend. And thanks for the animal videos, totally brightened my day!
ReplyDeleteI love corn - I always eat mine with salt for a salty/sweet taste. What an interesting craving! Have a great weekend Jane xx Kat
ReplyDeleteLove and Ace
I love corn and maize - good stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy mother craved ginger, pickled ginger! I love ginger xx
Ah love the pix and yeah I am not a big fan of corn myself. I did not like eating it off the cobb as a kid I did not like the way the kernels felt between my teeth. I had texture issues. I also hated lima bean still do. I feel like I am biting in to a big cockroach or beetle. And on that lovely note, have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteHahahaha, it's fun to know about your corn preference & mom's craving; I always get teased because I Iooove to add corn to my ramen. Lomo instant camera? great addition to their collection of cameras: the orange & mint one is cute!
