over the weekend i made artichoke dip from scratch and dabbled at the idea of making my own bracelets. i have no clue where to even start so throughout the week i hope to gather some ideas.
we also had lots of watermelon and also a watermelon juice drooling cocker spaniel. it was the cutest thing to see. and there was watermelon juice evvverrrywhere.
oh and a couple of weeks ago, i purchased the a beautiful mess photoshop action - the folk collection and have been playing around with it for a while. the photos in this post, and this, this and this oh and this{!} were touched up by the folk collection photoshop action.
i was a little wary about buying it because before i started using vsco film, i was using actions that i was able to download for free. they were definitely unpredictable and some had kinks but i was able to eventually find ones that worked for me.
actions definitely need some playing around and at times photos don't exactly turn out the way you think they would. but i'm happy with the folk collection. my favorites are imogen, norma, willis and light leak 4. and i love that you can use more than two actions to play around with the mood and all. i hope to purchase the other collections in the future and look forward to using these along with vsco film moving forward.
hope you have a great week ahead. along with the bracelet diy idea, i also have another diy up my sleeve and after returning we have the secret life of walter mitty to watch next on netflix. i saw the original a long time ago and am looking forward to seeing this version.

actions are definitely fun to work with. i was so used to working with photos on vscocam but it was a nice change to work with actions again. :)
DeleteI've been a Photoshop user for decades and I still have never gotten around to using 'actions'! How funny that programs like Photoshop or Final Cut Pro are just monstrous beautiful beasts that can never be completely mastered. Lol
ReplyDeleteBtw Piri looks adorable with the watermelon :)

DeletePiri loves watermelon - best thing ever! And also artichoke dip - super yum :)
ReplyDeleteHave been eyeing off those actions, I think I have too many though, it hurts my head :P

DeleteBeautiful photos, such a warm and everyday like I do.
ReplyDeleteRegards, Carou
thank you!
DeleteLooks so summery and lovely over at your end of the world!!! Antichoke dip sounds YUM
ReplyDeleteit was definitely yum!
DeleteHaha Piri looks like she loves the watermelon. I keep forgetting that it is in season over there... Being in Australia for a year messes with your sense of time... and season...
ReplyDelete:) i feel the same way too when i visit blogs of aussie friends! you're getting ready for winter!
DeleteI love that first shot. I've only downloaded a few (free) actions but I usually end up spending lots of time altering them to get the right effect. There's one I always use and one I made myself that's ever so slightly different than a normal photo, for a lighter effect. I love how yours turn out!
ReplyDeletethank you! that's pretty neat how you made your own!
DeleteYummy watermelon! Love the shadow photo of you and Yangkyu. Love the person pointing to the sky! Great use of the actions!
ReplyDeleteI love this photos! they totally scream summer! too bad I don't like watermelon ;S
ReplyDeleteThat watermelon looks so good! That is the cutest picture of Piri eating it. That dip sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteYou lead such a beautiful life.

Your pictures are always beautiful Jane and I love how you've experimented with the different actions here! Also, that watermelon is mouthwatering- yummm.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Hope you'll share your DIY bracelets! On summertime it is so nice to spend some time on the outside making some creative project :) Oh! how interesting that you tried the ABM actions, I am also tempted. Have you already tried using both VSCO and these actions? Are they configurable in the same sense or is it only the intensity of the action? :) Is it fast to work or do they need extra tuning? It would be so interesting to read your opinions since I love your photo approach :)
ReplyDeleteyes! i totally tried using vsco first and then ABM. i think the floral friday one was like that? i can't remember exactly because i wanted to post pictures that were strictly made with the ABM filter so that i can see it without vsco cam. but in the future, yes totally, i would love to use both on photos! and i usually don't need a lot of extra tuning!
