when we were contacted by rachael at your dog's diner to see if we would be interested in trying their treat and soup mixes for dogs we were instantly intrigued. we don't give piri scrap food and make him boiled chicken with rice from time to time {but mostly his meals include science diet wet and dry food}. we are all for healthy eating that is fit for dogs and so we jumped at the chance to make these for piri.
we received the mutt meatballs mix as well as the mutt soup mix, both made with all organic ingredients. i was delightfully surprised to find what was in these bags and the aroma was incredible.
- for the meatballs: we used ground turkey and mixed the ingredients in the bag with 1 egg. the oven was preheated to 350 degrees and after shaping them into bite sized meatballs, we let it bake for 30 minutes. it was then cooled to room temperature before feeding.
- for the soup: we used ground turkey again and mixed the ingredients with water in a medium sized pot. we brought it to a boil and cooked for 30 minutes. again, it was cooled to room temperature before feeding. (please don't feed your dog anything hot).
piri literally devoured the meatballs. i think if he had his way, he would've eaten everything in one sitting. but he had about 8 meatballs and we stored the rest in the fridge so he can have more today and tomorrow. i actually wish these could be his treats everyday.
he also got a taste of the soup. i wasn't sure how he would react to this since he's never had anything like it before, and i wasn't sure if the smell would be too strong for him. but sure enough, after hesitating for just the teeniest of a second, he licked and gobbled his way through it all. he did end up with a yellow mustache {so cute!} from the soup base, which he almost wiped off on our white blankets {that clever dog}, but it was nothing a wet paper towel couldn't clean off.
^^ the meatball mix includes {all organic} rolled oats, spinach flakes, red bell pepper, parsley and basil. ^^
^^ they really turned out great. ^^
^^ he was a champ for waiting just a little bit so that mama could take a few pictures. ^^
^^ then he wasted no time to gobble them up. ^^
^^ the soup mix includes {all organic} short grain brown rice, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, red bell pepper, parsley, basil, turmeric powder and celery powder. ^^
we think that these mixes would be really great to occasionally include with piri's regular diet. also on thanksgiving and other holidays and special occasions like his birthday, these treats would be great to make.
yangkyu and i really loved the story behind your dog's diner, the passion and dedication of rachael and her husband nathan to rescue dogs, and after watching their video and visiting their blog, we were even more interested in trying their mixes.
you can find out more about their story and mixes on their website and blog, 2 traveling dogs. they also have amazing social media presence -- you can follow along on on facebook, tumblr, twitter, pinterest and instagram. they also share really neat videos on their youtube channel, which are a delight to watch.
thank you your dog's diner for these wonderful mixes! piri gives them two paws up!
