today couldn't be any more cool because it's friday and it's also my birthday. i'm 35!
funny story. recently i was in a conversation with someone and i revealed my age. she looked at me in shock and said that i was old. i chuckled. i remember when i was 21 and people in their thirties seemed really old to me. but when i turned 30 it wasn't a big deal. everyone was telling me that i would feel different and that i would bawl my eyes out at the stroke of twelve. i think they watched way too many movies. and it's not a matter of "i still feel young at 35", it's really that i'm over all that labeling. i'm still the same person i was from 10 years ago, with a little bit more knowledge and experience under my belt. but i'm still learning and growing. but the most important thing right now is that i feel settled, content and full.
i like to order in and have a small celebration with yangkyu and piri. balloons are really all i need. ok cupcakes too. afterwards we may sneak out and catch a night showing of the hobbit 2. we missed it last weekend. i hope to also head out to dc again over the weekend and get a look at the national christmas tree {we have done it for the past 2 years!} and check out the holiday market as well.
what are some of your plans?
hope you have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteahahaha. i wish i could have your wisdom when i turn 30. i turned 24 this year and i freaked out a little. not about that i got older, but the thoughts of what i haven't done and achieved and how many years do i have left to achieve them. silly. i know.
Horray for the weekend and your birthday Jane! I agree - you are still the same person you were 10 years ago but with more knowledge and experience! Happy Birthday! xx Kat

ReplyDeleteYay Happy Birthday Jane! Spending it with those you love most is the best way to celebrate! Have an awesome day! I used to dread getting older but then I realized that aging is a gift in itself that we should be lucky enough to experience. Besides is age is just a number :)

Happy 35, dear! I agree, age is just a number. Hope you get to see the movie and the tree!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Jane!! Ha 35 is not old but I know what you mean. I bet you will feel the same 10 years from now when you turn 45. Age is just a number when it comes to counting Birthdays. If you are happy, healthy and prosperous it is ALL good!

First off Happy 35th birthday! I know you're going to be ok with me saying your age, you don't get to say it much cos some people are sensitive but I can see you're cool with it. I'm 28, I feel fine about it but haven't really achieved as much as I expected by my age. But you never know what life has in store, you can only push it in certain directions, depending on certain conditions. I guess my time hasn't come yet, let's here it for 2014.

ReplyDeleteBelated happy birthday, Jane! I, too, used to see people in their 30s as old when I was much younger. But, heck, I turned 30 this year (September) and I don't even feel (and look lol) my age. Age is definitely just a number. I hope you had a blast! :-)

ReplyDeleteI'm 23 and yeah, 30 feels worlds away to me. I hope I can have the same positive outlook as you do!
